Incorporated Health was created in 2002 by Dr Tony Lopez initially as The Imaging Clinic to work in partnership with consultant radiologists.
It was a natural progression for the company to work for closely with other significant stakeholders in the value network of private healthcare including patients, consultant & hospital providers and insurers, to reduce expensive private healthcare costs whilst improving patient care.
This was initially achieved in collaboration with predominantly consultants and private network hospitals with the first hospital joint venture developed together with BMI Healthcare (now Circle Healthcare Group) in 2008 at its Guildford facility, Mount Alvernia Hospital. The initial phase was to install a 128 slice CT scanner (not available in West Surrey at the time) and a 1.5T MRI scanner, markedly improving patient access to rapidly developing technology. Subsequently, a Dual-headed Gamma Camera and Full Field Digital Mammography have been added to the portfolio, again in equal joint venture.
More recently, the rapidly developing technology associated with PET CT scanning has begun to plateau, and this imaging modality has been added to a number of Incorporated Health’s partner sites including Cancer Centre London (Formerly Aspen Parkside and now Nuffield Health Parkside) and BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital, with several others pending.
A number of ‘new entrants’ are joining the private healthcare market and, together with enterprising consultant investors, are adopting with Incorporated Health a business model based on ‘disruptive innovation’. The aim is to reduce the cost of private healthcare further whilst making private healthcare more accessible at reasonable cost, without losing quality.
